Adaptable | Behavior Explained
I’m Kelly O’Horo, Attachment based EMDR Therapist, EMDRIA Consultant, and Advanced Trainer. I’m a mom of 5, Nonna of 5, wife, and a healer. I have the honor of spending my workdays walking along side people while they brave their healing journeys. I try to live with the generous assumption that we’re all doing the best we can with what we know. Therapists are teachers for the ”life stuff” and ”emotional vocabulary” that may not have been learned due to gaps in our care givers capabilities. In the last 15 years I’ve learned that people are freaking amazing, resilient, and inspiring. Most importantly, we are hardwired for connection and for healing!
I hope to bring an authentic, compassionate, and unpolished approach while we explore a variety of topics such as parenting, marriage, relationships, dating, trauma, attachment, adoption, depression, addiction, anxiety, and love! There’s a why for all behaviors and an explanation that makes perfect sense as emotion is at the root of it all.

Why We Lie and How to Become Radically Honest
Saturday Jan 27, 2024
Saturday Jan 27, 2024
Welcome to Adaptable | Behavior Explained! Today we're going to talk about lying as a trauma response, why we lie, how it works, and how we can incorporate radical honesty to live a more fulfilled life. Lying is a pervasive human behavior. Honesty isn't always our default setting - sometimes we may find ourselves bending the truth. When little ones start telling their own versions of events, it can stir a mix of parental worry and amusement (given how easily their tales unravel). Surprisingly, in those early years, these fibs indicate a cognitive milestone. Let's explore the effects of lying and learn how we can incorporate radical honesty as our compass!

Tips & Tricks for Parenting Your Teen
Saturday Jan 20, 2024
Saturday Jan 20, 2024
Welcome to Adaptable | Behavior Explained! In this conversation, Kelly and Victoria discuss the intricacies of parenting, tackling the fine line between being the cool, laid-back parent and the strict enforcer. The examples they share, like expecting an 8-year-old to be independent or coddling a 15-year-old, hit home for anyone navigating the unpredictable terrain of parenting. Victoria expresses the struggle with parents either pushing their kids to grow up too soon or holding onto the reins for too long, creating a delicate dance of independence. There's also a nod to breaking free from traditional gender roles in parenting – because, yes, dads can do bedtime routines too. It's a crash course on maintaining sanity while parenting, wrapped up with a big shout-out to all parents out there, acknowledging that parenting is indeed the ultimate wild ride. If you've got burning questions or fancy joining one of Victoria's support groups, check the details below. Here's to navigating the parenting journey with a whole lot of love!

Non Specific Trauma: Big T’s Little T’s
Friday Jan 12, 2024
Friday Jan 12, 2024
Welcome to Adaptable | Behavior Explained! Have you ever been guilty of saying, “What happened to me is no big deal. Other people have had it much worse.”? If so, you are not alone. Most people struggle to acknowledge that what they went through can be defined as a trauma. It is as if you somehow do not have the right to heal from your situation. All because it doesn’t seem as bad as what someone else went through. As a trauma therapist, I’m here to validate your experience. I help my clients learn how to give themselves space and recognition. By doing so, they can learn to heal from any situation; big or small.
